Stage 4

Swimming lessons are often the first point of education for young children and can help with the development of motor skills and language. It is a great activity for a baby to bond with the parent as well as interact with other children.

Survival Benchmark

At the end of Aquatots students will have an increased chance of surviving an accidental fall into a pool. Students are more likely to succeed at turning and grabbing onto a wall, or swimming 3 metres back to safety.

Recreational Benchmark

Students will have a love for water and be confident to go swimming recreationally. They will have a respect for the water and know their limitations. They will be skilled enough to play in shallow water and swim independently for 3 metres in deep water to and from an adult. They will enjoy water playgrounds and swimming with family at local or backyard pools. A competent adult will still need to remain in the water, within arm’s reach of the child.
